Armenia, Azerbaijan Conduct Border Railway Inspection
A team of representatives from both South Caucasus states assessed the rail line linking Yeraskh village in Armenia to Sadarak town within Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azertac, the Azerbaijani state news agency, confirmed.
Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers informed Azertac that the inspection aimed to determine whether the Sadarak–Yeraskh railway segment could accommodate specialized construction equipment required for railway development. The assessment forms part of broader infrastructure restoration efforts, officials indicated.
"During the inspection, the parties exchanged views on issues related to evaluating the technical condition of the railway infrastructure along the section," the report stated.
Armenia's state news agency, issued a parallel account based on information from the Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Ministry.
The border inspection follows closely on the heels of a major announcement made just two days earlier. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held discussions in Washington that yielded a joint statement unveiling an implementation framework for the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) transit corridor.
TRIPP is designed to establish a transportation link between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan enclave, running through Armenian territory. The initiative stems from a declaration signed August 8 during a trilateral summit featuring Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and US President Donald Trump.
