Explosion Near Moscow Train Station Kills Officer
The incident took place around 12:05 AM local time when an explosive device detonated after an unidentified person approached a police patrol vehicle at Savyolovsky Square, according to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“As a result of the criminal’s actions, one officer sustained injuries incompatible with life,” the statement said. Two additional officers were hospitalized with injuries from the blast.
Police also reported that a thorough examination of the scene and surveillance footage confirmed that the attacker died at the location of the explosion.
Law enforcement agencies in Moscow are collaborating with other security services to determine the full circumstances behind the incident. The surrounding area, a key transport hub, was secured as investigators and bomb disposal teams collected evidence. The identity and motive of the individual responsible remain unknown.
