Major traffic shift coming up at the State Highway 16 and State Highway 44 intersection

The Idaho Transportation Department will be shifting traffic on SH-16 and SH-44 intersection on August 13

The Idaho Transportation Department will be shifting traffic around the State Highway 16 and State Highway 44 intersection starting Thursday, August 13. On Thursday, August 20, crews will shift traffic at the State Highway 44 and Moyle Avenue intersection. Click here for a map.

Work will take place each night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. with flaggers directing traffic. The speed limit will be reduced during this time.

This traffic shift will have major traffic changes. After the shift is completed, motorists can expect:

  • Northbound and southbound State Highway 16 traffic will run on the new on and off ramps.
  • The SH-16 and SH-44 intersection will be shifted to the east to line up with the new ramps.

“This traffic shift marks a major milestone in the State Highway 16 and State Highway 44 Interchange construction,” said ITD Resident Engineer Styles Salek. “This traffic shift will allow crews to begin construction on the future interchange bridge going over State Highway 44.”

The State Highway 16 and SH-44 Interchange will provide access from SH-44 to SH-16, while allowing SH-16 to flow freely over SH-44. This interchange is part of the long-term vision for SH-16 and will be finished next year. When complete, SH-16 will be a limited-access freeway between I-84 and SH-44. Motorists will use interchanges to enter or exit the highway at I-84, Franklin Road, Ustick Road, US-20/26 and SH-44.
