Highway 30 detour begins Sept. 14 west of Rochester International Airport for culvert replacement (Sept. 8, 2026)

Latest news releases

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Highway 30 motorists will encounter a detour west of the Rochester International Airport beginning Sept. 14 as crews replace the culvert at Willow Creek, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

It’s anticipated that the closure will occur for two weeks. Motorists south of the closure wanting to access Highway 63 (PNG) should go south on Olmsted County Road 8, east on 10th Street NW, north on 11th Avenue W and east on 20th Street NW to reach Highway 63. The detour will affect motorists who use Highway 30 coming from Hayfield and residents and delivery drivers south of the closure on the west side of the airport.

The detour will not affect motorists who access Highway 30 from Highway 63 to go to Rochester International Airport or the businesses to east and north of the airport.

This work is part of a project that started in August. The resurfacing of Highway 30 from 90th Street SW to Highway 63 was completed in late August, along with some culvert improvements.
