ROCHESTER, Minn. – Highway 52 southeast of Rochester will be closed and detoured for three days in both directions beginning Sept. 22 as crews finish work on the Interstate 90 bridge and paving on Highway 52, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The closure will begin at 6 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 22 and be completed by 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24. All of Highway 52 will be closed near I-90, including access to the flyover bridge for southbound Highway 52 to eastbound I-90. Highway 52 will reopen to traffic once the work is completed.
During that time, construction crews will remove temporary bridge work on the I-90 westbound bridge over Highway 52, paint the bridge rails and beams, complete the final pavement on northbound and southbound Highway 52, and install temporary striping.
Detours
- Northbound Highway 52 motorists should go north at Olmsted County Road 7 north of Chatfield to I-90 and merge onto westbound I-90. Use Exit 217 to go northbound on Highway 52 to Rochester.
- Southbound Highway 52 motorists should exit onto Highway 63 southbound in Rochester, travel south to I-90 at Stewartville. Merge onto eastbound I-90 and exit at Exit 224 at Eyota. Travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield.
- Eastbound I-90 motorists who want to travel south on Highway 52 will exit at Exit 224 at Eyota. Travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield. Eastbound motorists who want to travel
- Westbound I-90 motorists exit at Exit 224 at Eyota to travel south on Highway 52. Travel south on Olmsted Co Rd 7 to Highway 52 north of Chatfield. To travel north on Highway 52, use Exit 217 onto northbound Highway 52.
